Tshidi has held senior positions in both the private and
public sector. While at Spoornet she won a number of
awards including Leader with Business Acumen and The
Most Exceptional Women Leader in Transnet. She is a
non-executive director of Royal Bafokeng Holdings and
several other businesses.
She has coached numerous senior executives, building on
her own corporate experience from the 1980s when there
were few role models for women and ambitious black
executives.
Tshidi is passionate about the role of executive
coaching in a nation committed to accelerated
development. She advocates continual reinforcement of
strengths and cautions that fixating about supposed
weaknesses is much less likely to create excellence.
“It’s OK not to know everything,” says Tshidi. “The key
is to work on those areas that complement your greatest
talents.” She encourages clients to get closer to their
needs, fears, motivation for actions, values, beliefs
and priorities.
“Leaders should spend more time reflecting,” she
advises. “Reflection generates creativity. When we don’t
reflect, we keep doing things the same way.”
Tshidi has a B.Com. from the University of the North, an
MBA from the University of Bridgeport, USA and is
currently towards the Middlesex University post-graduate
certificate in Coaching. |
