Four Principal Products

Change Partners offers four principal products focusing on the development of executives and leaders.  Each programme has an operational framework but is customized meet the specific need of the individual or the sponsoring company.

One-on-One executive Coaching

The core Change Partners product and an intervention targeted chiefly at senior management (often CEOs). Typically, the process lasts six to 12 months, though renewal is common. Coaching sessions of about two hours are diarised twice a month, though the coach remains ‘on call’ for more frequent consultations, either telephonic or face-to-face.

Interaction is shaped by an organisational brief setting out objectives and benchmarks. The coach and the client develop personal objectives and measurement criteria suitable to the client’s needs

The coach summarises key issues and deliverables. Once accepted by the client, this document guides subsequent interaction. Any mismatch between organisational expectations and an individual’s perceived role is fully explored.

The coach functions as a sounding board or an advocate of alternative solutions. As trust develops, coach and client probe the leader’s potential for improved performance. Role-play and rehearsal of critical scenarios may be used to improve performance in specific situations. The coach provides support in times of crisis and prompts the client to consider new approaches. The personal chemistry of senior executive and coach can be an antidote for the loneliness of leadership while driving new levels of performance.

Team Coaching

This is typically targeted at the direct reports of the corporate leader and usually involves eight to 12 members of the senior executive team. A typical intervention lasts six months. An organisational brief describes goals and benchmarks. Objectives can be diverse; from removal of any ‘disconnect’ between leader and team to accelerated decision-making. The process begins with individual interviews, focusing on roles, relationships and how interaction might improve. A two-day off-site event identifies roadblocks to greater team effectiveness. One-on-one techniques encourage the discussion of alternative behaviours and processes while personal commitments to improved performance are made. Ongoing contact with the team is maintained for six months after the initial offsite event. Contacts in this period typically range from one-on-one discussions around attainment of newly defined goals to team review sessions.

Group Coaching

This product focuses on four to six executives of high potential (tomorrow’s leaders) who do not yet form part of the top team. The process normally lasts six months and involves both group sessions and one-on-one coaching. Specific topics based on key competencies are covered (e.g. coping with promotion, dealing with peers and subordinates, delegation and trust).

Coaching for Mentoring

This product uses coaching skills to ‘future-proof’ mentoring structures. The service helps organisations position mentoring through discussions with stakeholders, fosters organisational understanding of who should be mentors and equips selected mentors with key coaching techniques to encourage a more participatory, less prescriptive mentoring style. Programme participants are given better insight into their role and how to optimise the mentorship opportunity. A six-month support process helps mentors establish themselves as effective mentors while feedback over this period fosters the development of a Mentoring Community within their organisation. This helps organisations make mentoring a sustainable component of human capital development.

In addition, customised packages can be developed to assist managers with special needs. These categories include performance management and safety management where coaching techniques can assist executives to become more creative and effective.
