The Thirteenth Annual Conference of The Global Coaching Partnership was held in early February in Chennai, India. Representatives from the nine member companies attended a four-day event, which had a number of different components.
As ever, one of the key elements of the conference was the opportunity for coaches from around the world to spend time talking face to face about their work. However, equally important was a critical review of our coaching practice, to ensure that we are still operating at the cutting edge of our business. A number of specific areas, including contracting with individual clients, effective closure of coaching programmes, and successful matching of coach and client, were debated at length. As a result, all members have some difference perspectives to share with their local coaching teams.
Time was also devoted to looking at a different approach to team coaching, introduced by our newest member from Spain, and learning about an Integration Coaching process which has been formulated by our colleagues in Canada.
For many, it was the first visit to India, and we were fortunate to have to exceptional guides who gave us a wonderful insight into Chennai, its culture and its history. There was also an opportunity to hear from Indian businessmen, at an open forum hosted by the Chennai chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry. We were also privileged to have separate presentations from two Indian businessmen and a representative of the Ramakrishna Mission.
In return, the delegates gave their impressions of India and its business challenges, which have been collated into an article written by the Indian Member.
The members of The Global Coaching Partnership left feeling re-charged and enlightened in a variety of ways, and looking forward to next year’s conference in Canada. It is already confirmed there will be one new member joining the group, and we continue to look for further opportunities to increase our coverage and diversity.
